Materials & Function

Functionality and durability

A lot of the materials we use at Fjällräven is developed by ourselves. With our long experience of being outdoor we believe we know what it takes to create durable and functional materials. This is the foundation of our product development; knowledge about the actual usage and the product itself. We are proud not to develop or choose a material because of trend or design.

Once we have selected the material for a specific product we put a lot of emphasis on field testing and choosing the right combination of materials for the aimed activity. We test it, test it and then test it again.

These tests make us sure that the material has the right functions and also is durable and last a long time. You will often see Fjällräven products that is handed down in generations or sold second-hand. This makes us proud. Our products that are being reused has hardly any affect on the environment compared to buying a new product. No material has been produced, no chemicals have been added and there is hardly any extra freight. No wonder we focus on materials that are made to last long.

Being outdoor people we of course believe that our materials should be made in a way in which animals and the environment is affected to a minimum. This is regulated through our Quality Time Policy.
